Finding POIs and Businesses

Find an Address window (PC)
|
| 1. | Select the Tools menu in the TeleType GPS program.

| 2. | Select Find. Make sure the Yellow Pages radio button is selected. Here, you can do one of following:
|

| · | You may do a search within a certain range (500 feet, 1 mile, 5 miles and 20 miles) of the point that you are centered on. It is recommended that you do to this while zoomed in to a very close scale, so you see exactly where you are centered to avoid confusion.

| · | Enter the name, city, state, and phone number information, if it is known. New to v022005, you may now just enter the phone number to find the YP point that you are seeking. Be sure not to over specify! Please check the Tips section for more details.

| · | If you wish to find an address you have searched for previously, select on the History button and choose the address from the list.
|
|
|
If you choose the category 'Waypoints' from the categories menu, you can find all of the waypoints that are within your waypoint files. These can be added in the same manner as an address or a Yellow Pages point.
|
| 4. | From the list given, select the correct name and address (usually the first), and then select Go To. This will center the screen on that selected POI and also make that POI a waypoint.

|
Wildcard searches are allowed to broaden or narrow your search. See the help file on Wildcards to learn more.

|
If you are searching for things like museums, monuments and parks, these can be found in the Landmarks category.
|
|
|
Currently, the categories will only narrow your results when you are searching the United States. In POI searches in Europe, these categories will not be helpful in finding your result.
