Resolution

Occasionally a device installed on a computer will conflict or interfere with the operation of a TeleTypeGPS card. The most common of these devices are the built in Infrared Ports that are found on many Laptops. Other Network Adapters may also cause conflicts.

To resolve these conflicts it is necessary to disable (or sometimes remove) these devices from the computer. This can be done through the Device Manager and it may not be necessary to physically remove or disable them.

In Windows 98

Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel. Double-Click on the System icon.

Click on the Device Manager Tab

Highlight the specific device you wish to disable, from the list of devices

displayed.

Click on the Properties Button.

Check the “Disable in this hardware profile” box

Click OK.

In Windows 2000/XP

Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel. Double-Click on the System icon.

Click on the Hardware tab.

Click on the Device Manager Button.

Highlight the specific device you wish to disable, from the list of devices

displayed.

Right Click on the Device and choose “Disable” from the pop up menu that

appears.

Click OK to disable the device
