INSTALLING AND ASSIGNING COMM PORT FOR TELETYPE GPS WIRELESS CARDS SUCH AS PCMCIA AND CF GPS ON LAPTOPS

Version 1-- Use these instructions if you attempted to install the GPS card and selected Cancel when prompted to select proper .inf file.

INSTALLATION UNDER WINDOWS 2000/XP/XP Pro (Version 1)

1. Plug in the GPS receiver and allow Windows to install it without driver.

2. Go to Device Manager and select Unknown Device.

3. Properties

4. Driver

5. Update Driver

6. Next

7. Display list of all drivers

8. GPS receivers

9. Teletype

10. Click “Ok” to warning that this driver does not have all information required and may not function properly

11. Device is installed on COM3

 

Version 2 -- Use these instructions if you installed the GPS card but were unable to locate the port and you also want to install the .inf file as well.
 
INSTALLATION UNDER
WINDOWS 2000/XP/XP Pro (Version 2)

1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel

2. Click System

3. Select Device Manager tab.

4. Scroll down to Ports (COM & LPT), expand the list by selecting the plus sign.

4. Click on TeleType GPS card

5. Properties

6. Click on Driver

7. Update Driver

8. Next

9. Display list of all drivers 

10. Show all hardware

11. Click on standard port types

12. Select Communications Port

13. The system will respond with a message "The driver that you have chosen may not be compatible....." Click OK.
